Salute to Sirius

Sirius, yellow lab bomb sniffing police dog

Sirius - Oil on Canvas, 24"x30"
Copyright 2002

I was honored to have been asked to paint the portrait of Sirius, the yellow Labrador Retriever Bomb Detection Dog who perished in the World Trade Center  on 09/11/01 after the terrorist attacks. I actually painted and donated two portraits. The original watercolor, "Salute to Sirius" was donated on April 24th , 2002 to his handler, David Lim, and the framed oil painting on canvas was given to the NYNJ PAPD in the memorial ceremony at Liberty Park, NJ. In an effort to share this image with the public, and to honor Sirius as the unknown hero he was, I am now offering small, affordable gift items with my proceeds also going to the above charities at http://www.cafepress.com/sirius911 . It still amazes me that so few people are aware of the story of Sirius….I hope that we can change that by sharing these links with friends and by wearing and displaying the Salute to Sirius image.

Also new as of June 2008...this image is available in a counted-cross stitch pattern for FREE at MistyDreamz.

Thank you to the Port Authority for their blessings on this project, and to all of you who have shown interest in honoring Sirius.

God Bless.

"The Promise"

He sits beside the Heaven's Gate
And heeds commands to "sit and wait".
A promise, "I'll be back", was set
And in due time it shall be met.
And in due time..... it shall be met.

For Sirius and Dave and a promise across eternity.
